Unfair rivalry on the telecommunication services market

Everybody should know that a minute consists of sixty seconds. But newly one of the IDT companies announced that a lot of companies, that sell phone cards, give only 36 seconds instead of 60. IDT in juristic acts against some of their competitors declared that it is hard to compete on a level playing field when one minute is not a minute. In 2007 IDT/UTA (Union Telecard Alliance) began a lawsuit against several corporations-providers of prepaid phone cards alleging erroneous advertising and deceptive commerce operations.

IDT/UTA had asserted that dissimilar its proper calling cards, those of many of their rivals deliver just about 60 percent of the minutes of telephone services announced and given on voice help heard by consumers in connection with calls performed by using the cards of accused and advertised by such competitors on th TV, newspaper, poster, internet, or another medium. In November 2007 Total Call International, Inc. and IDT/UTA have reached a full resolution of the lawsuit delivered by IDT Telecom, Inc. and Union Telecard Alliance, LLC versus Total Call. It is the fourth group of defendants which have resolved the enforcement proceedings commenced by IDT/UTA. The other settling defendants today are Epana Networks, Inc., Dollar Phone Corp. and connected corporations, and Locus Telecommunications, Inc. That incomplete action is being on approval in the federal court in Newark, New Jersey. To make everybody know the new telephone service conditions and payment mode, one of the companies placed the advertising information on their blog. One of the characteristics he was proud of was the ability to determine the length of the minute to any size. Other feature was to stochastically deduct a minute from the balance. Moreover, they mentioned that it is standard on all prepaid calling cards systems. I didn't realize that it was true. But today when I saw IDT communique, I understand that they were probably right.

So next time you get a international phone card for $20.00 with 2000 minutes and you realize that it is too good to be true - it probably is! Please, choose the calling card properly to avoid the ability of being deceived. The good news is that the companies mentioned above have agreed to deliver 100 percent of the minutes prescribed to client. IDT/UTA thinks that till all defendants have assented to adhere to that standard, it is beneficial for the continued prosecution of this action to get a streamlined litigation with fewer accused. To set up the level of paying field all the corporations, that provide the telecommunication facilities should promote good practices and standards. The methods, that can precisely control all the operations connected to the pay beforehand cards, will be designed by these corporations. The parties also agreed to undertake exertions to promote such standards amid all pay beforehand card business and to promote independent monitoring of compliance with such standards.
